Annapurna treks

Annapurna Trek Packages:

Annapurna Sanctuary (Base Camp) Trek (10 Days)

This is a spectacular short trek reaching Annapurna’s south-face base camp. This trek is not that difficult, although some portions do have steep climbs. The sanctuary traverses a variety of terrain from lowland villages and rice terraces to glaciers that offer outstanding high mountain views: it offers a fine opportunity to surround you with Himalayan peaks within a relatively short compass of time.

The Annapurna trek starts and ends in Pokhara and takes between 8-10 days, depending upon which route you take. The maximum height reached is 4,137 meters. (You can trek in winter, but it can be dangerous after heavy snowfall! One must beware of avalanches that can block the narrow entrance to the sanctuary. Avalanches from Himchuli, which is between Deurali and MBC, and are not visible, come crashing onto the trail at frightening speed and frequency. The best time to do this trek is therefore during the mail-trekking seasons of spring and autumn.

Annapurna Circuit ( Round Annapurna Trek (18 – 21 Days)

This trek around the entire Annapurna is about 300 km. You will trek through lowland villages to the remote Manang region, through a pass (5,416 meters), and through the Muktinath and Kaligandaki valleys. There are two famous Himalayan valleys, Manang and Mustang, along the way which maintain the living heritages of the Gurung, Managis and Thakali cultures.

This trek starts from Besishahar, about a five hour drive from Pokhara. The first few days you trek with a view of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges and then you enter the Manang Valley. The trail continuously follows the Marsyangdi River with the beautiful Himalayan settlements of Pisang, Humde, Ngawal, Manang, etc. Along the way there are numbers of monasteries, lakes and caves that are worth visiting. The Tilicho Lake, at 4,920 meters, the highest in the world, is also possible by doing a side-trip of an extra 3 to 4 days. Crossing the pass is challenging because of bad weather and altitude problems, but if you follow the prescribed itinerary and listen to your body you can still do it easily. After the long descent from the pass you reach Muktinath, where you join the Jomsom trek, and if you are running out of time, you can fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and save one week.
